Married couple convicted for child sex crimes
Cynthia Perkins, 36, pled guilty and testified against her ex, 44-year-old former member of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office SWAT team Dennis Perkins, who has also been charged with dozens of sex crimes against children, according to prosecutors.
In an effort to avoid a harsher sentence, she pled guilty and waived her rights to appeal, allowing her victims to avoid having to relive the experiences they had endured. Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said Monday, “Today’s conviction is in the best interest of our victims and justice.”
Police raided the couple’s home leading to Cynthia Perkins’ resignation from her position as a junior high English teacher. Her husband, Dennis Perkins was fired from his position as a special operations lieutenant with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office immediately.
