Lawsuits:
While the students of Northwood Elementary were learning at home Kirk Ashton found a way to get 2 male students into the school to molest them. These claims are part of an 18 page federal lawsuit filed on behalf of the victims’ parents and the victims themselves. In February now former principal created a reading program which was not part of the approved school curriculum. According to the lawsuit it was specifically for the young boys named. The boys evidently went into the school on remote learning days. The suit also claims that while on school grounds during this time, the boys would be alone with Ashton in his private office with the door closed. It was during these reading sessions that Ashton would sexually abuse the victims. Claims included in this federal lawsuit resembling those detailed in three other lawsuits and also from investigators, mainly by grooming and abusing the young boys by inviting them to his office for “lunch bunch”.
The parents of the second victim named in the lawsuit said they learned that there son was attending these “lunch bunch” meeting with the principal during the 2019 school year. The parents became troubled about those meetings and instructed an employee of Northwood elementary that their son was not allowed to attend those meetings in the future. According to the lawsuit the school district failed to investigate the “lunch bunch” and that at the beginning of the 2020 school year their son, the victim began attending these lunch bunch meetings per the principal’s request and was then sexually assaulted.
One victim states in a lawsuit that if Hilton Central had acted poorly Kirk Ashton would never of gotten his job muchless kept his job. The abuse occured from September 2019 to March 2020 (when the pandemic hit). The victim was in the first grade. There have been many lawsuits file again Ashton, Hilton Central and Superintendent Casey Kosiorek. Most of the lawsuits that name the District, the superintendent as well as Ashton accuse them of failing to properly investigate and adequatley monitor Ashton.
For Ashton the legal woes don’t stop with his conviction and sentencing. There have been at least 5 civil lawsuits against him as well as the Hilton School District and the superintendent.
